Langtang Trekking / Langtang-Kyanjang-Sing Gompa Trekking Nepal

The Langtang Trekking is a very interesting alternative trekking route for those who may find the Annapurna and Everest trekking routes too crowded. The region is easily accessible by road and offers a multitude of possible treks and majestic places. The Helambu/Langtang Trekking region is located North of Kathmandu. There are several trekking routes in this area; Langtang-Gosainkunda-Helambu trek, Langtang valley trek, Panch Pokhari and Jugal Himal trek, as well as longer treks that combines these different routes

Langtang - Kyanjang - Sing Gompa TrekkingThe Langtang is a narrow valley between two main Himalayan ranges bordering Tibet in the North and the Helambu region in the South. The Langtang trekking area is protected by Langtang National park since 1976 which covers an area of 1710 km2 which expands till Helambu trekking region. The Langtang trekking in the verdant forested valley of Langtang follows upstream river through typical Tamang and Tibetan settlements. Langtang Trekking ascends through alpine pastures and meadows offering fantastic views of the Ganesh Himal. You can either start from Dhunche or Bharkhu but normally the Langtang trekking starts from Syabru Besi which is 8 hours from Kathmandu by bus. The bus road is already an adventure for those who travel for their first time in Nepal. Syabru Besi is situated at 1460m and is the main commercial center for the local people and important trading center for commerce with Tibet linked recently with a new road.

The Langtang Trekking continues to Lama Hotel. There is possibility to do home stay in picturesque villages as local people always welcome visitors. Further up in the valley the trekkers reach Kyanjing Gomba, which is situated at an elevation of 3798m. This is also the last place where hotels and guest-houses are available. Kyanjing Gomba offers magnificent views over the surrounding peaks; Langtang II, Langtang Lirung, Kimshung peak, Yansa Tsenji peak, Kyanging-Ri peak, Yala Peak, Tserko-Ri peak, Morimoto Mountains. The Kyanjing-Ri and Tserko-Ri are the most visited highest places in the Langtang Trekking region. Usually the majority of trekkers return back from the same route. There is an alternative route to Helambu through the Ganja-La pass. However, this must only be attempted by experienced trekkers as this pass is very difficult and strenuous and requires organized camping trek. The pass is only open from April to November and trekkers need to take special permission.
